The semi-finals of the Metro Bank One Day Cup take place over the course of Tuesday and by the end of the day we will know the identity of the two sides who will head to Trent Bridge next month to compete for the trophy.
The top two teams in each group have made it through to the semi-finals so the cream has risen to the top. Despite The Hundred having concluded there is still no TV coverage of these matches so we’ll need the live county streams to be able to watch.
Warwickshire vs Hampshire (11.00)
The first of the two semi-finals to begin does so at Edgbaston where Warwickshire will look to confirm their status as one of the best teams in the group phase of the competition when they host a Hampshire side who will be competing in a second semi-final on this ground this season.
Hampshire went down to Essex in the last four of the Vitality Blast and they will be eager to avoid a repeat of that. They have added Joe Weatherley to their ranks for this match after he has completed his stint in The Hundred meaning Hampshire are getting closer to their strongest team. Warwickshire also have a leading batter back from that competition in Sam Hain and given the form he has been in this season that is a serious pickup. These two feel pretty evenly matched. If I was forced to bet I would probably side with Hampshire just because of the big match experience they have but it wouldn’t be with complete confidence so I’m happy to leave this one well alone.

Leicestershire vs Gloucestershire (14.00)
It is day-night cricket for the second semi-final as the Group A winners Leicestershire look to make it into a rare white ball final when they go up against Gloucestershire in a potentially entertaining clash at Grace Road.
Leicestershire were arguably the best team in the group stage of the competition and they get Colin Ackermann back from The Hundred for this match as well. Gloucestershire absolutely demolished Lancashire in the quarter final which should have set them up nicely for this match and in the last decade or so they are the team who are most used to playing in the bigger white ball matches. Nevertheless, there has been a lot to like about Leicestershire this season, especially with the bat. In fact, both these teams have been very good with the bat so I’m expecting a high scoring match here although we do need to dodge some showers which might put a spanner in the works. These two have both hit 400 in the competition and cleared 300 five times in total and would have done so 2-3 more times had a target not been reached so both batting units are in good touch and if we do get a full game I fully expect to see more than 527.5 runs in this one.
